Challenges of the Ruby Gem CLI Project

If you asked me what I’d be doing 5 years ago, I certainly wouldn’t have guessed I’d be building my first Ruby Gem, a CLI application called Astrological, but here I am! And I’m already looking forward to working on the next projects, though I don’t doubt that the process of building this project will help me in the future.


Composing Code

Before I get to the bulk of this thread, I’d like to preface it with a little bit of background about myself. My college education is in music, with a BM from the Eastman School of Music in Viola Performance (unfortunately, I can’t play anymore), the first two years of which I spent studying composition. In addition to my time at Eastman, I also studied composition at the San Francisco Conservatory for a year and a half.


Dragon Age: Origins and the Tic Tac Toe Computer AI

I never thought my that my love for video games (specifically role-playing games, or RPGs) would ever help me in my professional life. Hell, I certainly know that my parents certainly thought it was a waste of time. Well Mom and Dad, to our surprise, my experiences playing RPGs helped immensely with building the Computer AI for Ruby Tic Tac Toe project.


Coding Journey

When asked several years ago, “Where do you picture yourself in 5 years?”, I never had pursuing a career in coding on my radar. And yet, here I am. Life is strange and unpredictable.
